Storing Cards Safely!
Card storage is a very important part of collection! Keeping your cards safe from scratches, rips, water, dirt, and any possible danger to them is important in keeping the value of your collection at its highest! Here are a few tips, tricks, and items you can use to keep your cards safe with some of the standard trading card storage products! Each item has their own page, but this page contains a brief description of each storage item.
Card sleeves are some of the most used items within card collecting, and even have their own page, LINKED HERE, which are used in any card with some value! Personally, I put all of my inserts, good / great rookies, autographs, jersey cards, and numbered cards in sleeves! Any cards with value should be sleeved up, especially all cards that are going into top loaders, but I’ll get to the in the paragraph below! Anyways, SLEEVE YOUR CARDS! I can’t stress this enough!
Top Loaders are extremely important to keeping your cards safe from scratches, bends, and rips! They are thin, rigid plastic holders that the cards slide into, and will protect the card much more than the sleeves, described above. There is also a page dedicated to top loaders, LINKED HERE. I recommend buying various sizes of top loaders for the different card thicknesses, since they can vary greatly! Click the link listed in this paragraph for a closer look inside of the different top loaders
The Magnetic One-Touch Cases, LINKED HERE, are the best form of single-card protection, besides the cards that are sent into grading services. These magnetic cases encase the card with a magnetic seal, but there are various sizes, so make sure you get the right size before putting your card in! The card won’t be in a sleeve when put in a magnetic case, so it is also a better display case for showing off your favorite cards as well. These cases are very nice, but also very expensive, which is why only the best cards in your collection usually will be placed in them! Check out the link listed above to see more about Magnetic One-Touch cases and the various sizes.
Team Bags are fairly important to card collecting, and have multiple purposes as well! I use team bags primarily for shipping cards – I’ll seal a few cards in them before putting them into the bubble mailer or envelope before shipment! This is helpful for keeping dirt / anything out of the card’s touch, and makes sure that the cards are in a sealed environment while being handled by the post office. The Team Bag page is LINKED HERE if you’d like to take a more in depth look!
There are many different options for storage containers – from shoe boxes, to plastic containers that can be purchased from large retail stores! I use a variety of card storage units, with the majority of my base cards / sleeved cards sitting in a large plastic container with dividers, labeled with post-it notes that tell me what is where! My better cards, such as jersey / auto / numbered are all stored in top loaders, and are in the cardboard card storage boxes, Boxes that are made specifically for card storage! You can find a more detailed page on card storage boxes LINKED HERE. This is really the finally touch to storing your cards, as they should be safely packed away when they aren’t being displayed, and will hold their value best when stored in good condition!
Display Stands aren’t a vital part of sports card collecting, but they can add an awesome aesthetic aspect if you’re trying to show off your cards! They can be great for Youtubers trying to show cards in the background, or if you have a shelf, desk, or certain area you want to show off your cards! I have around 10-15 of these, and use them when I want in my Youtube videos, but also use them to show off some of my cards around my apartment! The full page to my display stand description is LINKED HERE if you’d like to look into it!
