Supplies Overview
Supplies are a vital part to sports card collecting, and you will need a few of each of these items to keep your cards, memorabilia pieces, and sports historical items safe! I will mainly be focusing on card supplies within this website. Card supplies can be any sport, trading card, and basically anything within the same size and thickness card or trading card, as long as you have the correct supply for the thickness!Â
There are many important supplies you’ll need if you’re a heavy duty card collector, but the main supplies are the card sleeve, the top loader, and somewhere to store your cards! I have individual pages for all of these supplies listed in the drop down bar on the main “Supplies” tab.Â
Card sleeves are the very basics, and can be found HERE. These will be the most used supply, so make sure you have quite a few of them! Card sleeves will protect the cards surface, somewhat, and keep dirt, dust, and other contaminants off of the card. I put every rookie, insert, numbered card, memorabilia card, and autograph in a card sleeve, so you can see how these card quantities may add up. I buy thousands at a time, so I don’t run out! Always have these sleeves handy when you’re opening up new card packs or boxes.Â
Top loaders are the next item to get for your cards. These are a little bit more expensive, but will protect your cards more because they are made from rigid plastic, and will stop a majority of surface scratches, unless they somehow are cut through. Top loaders vary in size, so make sure you know your card thickness when determining what top loader size you need! Head over HERE to see the top loader supply page!
There are many other things that are used in card collecting, which you can see in the drop down menu (such as display stands, magnetic cases, team bags, etc.). I will be talking about storage containers, as you will most likely need somewhere to keep your cards stored! You can use plastic containers from Walmart or Target, but cardboard containers are mainly used as well, since you can make them perfect size for cards! This can be further explained on my storage supply page, located HERE.Â
